Real People, the current Charity Times consultancy of the year, has today launched its third annual survey into pay and HR in social housing, in partnership with reward experts, twentysix consulting.
The first part of the survey – entitled The Barometer – looks at the latest pay and reward trends in the sector and aims to answer the question: Is the social housing sector on the brink of embracing bonuses?
The Barometer will be open throughout September, and until October 6th for organisations to take part free of charge. Only participants will receive a copy of the full results, which will be published in November.
The second part of the Barometer, looking at HR and people management will run in January 2015.
Luke Watkeys, Real People Business Manager, said: “The Barometer is the definitive account of what is happening around pay and HR in social housing and this year, we’ve made it even easier for our participants to take part by splitting it into two shorter bite-sized chunks, in September and January.
“I would urge organisations to get in touch and sign up to take part. It’s the perfect way to benchmark your organisation against others in the field and gain some invaluable data ahead of what is sure to be another challenging year for everyone.
“At a time when good HR practices are even more important than ever, the Barometer has become an essential people management tool.”
Lianne Capon, Managing Director of twentysix consulting, said: “The reason we started Barometer was to get answers to the questions that our clients were asking us. We want to be able to create the best up-to-the-minute snapshot of what is happening in the sector on pay and reward – the Barometer is our way of doing that.
“Whether driven by pressure on pay budgets, a desire to link reward with performance and contribution, or increasing commerciality, there is definitely an increased focus on variable pay. This year, it’ll be interesting to see just how close the sector is to embracing bonuses.
“We’ll also be looking at pay rises for 2015, whether market pay systems are dominating the sector and whether organisations are realising the full potential of their benefits package.
“I understand that a lot of people are turned off at the thought of filling out a survey, but the Barometer is now completed by some of the leading organisations in the sector and the information you get back is more than worth the investment in time.”
